jwilliams Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Thanks for the pic. I worked it out for myself as I wanted to get them changed before going away for the bank holiday. Much easier than using the silly hatches (my wife thought I was self harming with all the scratches on my hands and forearms) Quote

Guest gooner52 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 only 2 bolts on my headlights, took all of 5 mins each side to change bulbs fog lights took a little longer, but still quite easy to change the little door flaps are a total waste of time Quote
jwilliams Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 How did you replace the passenger side fog? Do you have to remove the washer bottle or something? I agree removing headlamp was very easy especially if you loosen the bolts holding the grill so that it can flex easier Quote

lazyb5 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 Hi guys thanks to all ,i found the huge screwdriver through the opening in the wheel arch liner the best took about 2 mins to do. Mind you half an hour spent trying to find how to change sidelight from engine bay before i resorted to the forum :o and half an hour to put the small plastic thing back in the hole after it fell out  .Other than that easy why do ford make the smallest things the most difficult.cheers Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 like to know if it was fords idea for that flap under the arch or was it a vw idea  Quote
lazyb5 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 aah you could be right it strikes me it could be a fiddly german thing  Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 I had to change the front left side light not so long ago, I did it through the silly trap door. I got it out no problems (bar getting the trap door open - hammer fixed that  ), but getting it back in, my hands are too big, and couldn Quote
JDF Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I found that to change one of the driver side rear bulbs (indicator or brake) on our Mk1 it is easier to remove the whole light cluster than to fight with metal brackets etc in the side pod.The off-side light cluster is only attached via 3 bolts, remove these and the light unit just pulls away. I believe it's not so easy on the Mk2.I only found this out just before Christmas when I had to fit a new light cluster ( Quote
widu13 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 For the front lights, removing the entire lamp assembly is deffo the way to go. There are 3 screws holding in the lamp on a T20 screw the rear one requires a long reach driver. It is quite fiddly but better than the flaps. Aim for 5-10 mins each side. I did once however, change the headlamp bulbs with removing anything apart from the plastic cosmetic bits on top- what a nightmare and what a chump for doing it :) Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 iv been experimenting with different bulbs...so far have tested halfords super brill, and currently have RING main beams in (all xenon gas)....i can change the bulbs well easy now. like a magic trick  next possibilities are BOSCH and ORSAM (IIRC) MJR Quote
Seth Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 Where have all the photo's gone for this thread? My 2003 Galaxy failed its MOT due to a failed front right position lamp. I can open the panel in the arch fine and feel into the rear of the front light cluster. I'm not sure what to do next as I need to remove a cover for the position light, or pop the headlight out. However without the photos or diagrams I'm at a loss how to proceed. Quote

However without the photos or diagrams I'm at a loss how to proceed. If by position light you mean the indicator. If it's the same as in my 2005 MkII it has a long extension stalk attached to the back of it. You need to rotate through approximately 90 degrees anticlockwise (as viewed from the inside the wheelarch). The stalk and bulb then pull out. You replace the bulb in the stalk and refitting is the reverse. Try and remember which way the stalk is oriented when you withdraw it as you need it in the same position when you reinsert it, though I think it can be 180degrees out. It's such a pain to do as there is a plastic moulding in the arch that takes the air from the intake in the grill into the box with the air filter. Quote

Grea thanks the position light is what I used to call park lights or side lights but on the MOT refusal they call them position lights. Thanks for the description will take a look. Plan B is the Torx25, remove the 2 central and losen the 2 outer (lower ones need a long reach Torx) Managed to find the photo. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-8971-068237300%201279117950.jpg Quote
Mirez Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 That's how I do it, infact that's my photo :angry2: Its much easier then faffing about using that stupid hole but just make sure you mark the beam on a wall or something first so you can realign it when putting it back Quote

Mirez Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Correct, if they have adjusted them then take it back as it's done incorrectly! Quote
