Guest lottieloo Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Can anyone tell me what year Ford started using Volkswagen engines in Galaxys??? and, whether the VW 1.9 td engine should be able to go in a 1996 Galaxy Aspen?? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 The Galaxy has only ever been fitted with VW diesel engines, all of 1.9 litres capacity/displacement. From launch (1995 or 1996 IIRC) the VW TDI engines were fitted, then when the car was facelifted in mid-2000, the VW TDI PD engines were fitted. These need special oil (see other threads for more information). The V6 fitted to all variants is also a VW engine. Only the 4-cylinder petrol engines fitted to the Galaxy are made by Ford rather than VW. Just to confuse you more, the 4-cylinder petrol engines fitted to the Sharan and Seat Alhambra are made by VW, ie the Galaxy 2.0 has a different petrol engine to the Sharan 2.0 Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Where is the engine coming from? a Galaxy,Sharan or Alhambra TDI would be fine but (I'm not 100% on this) I believe you would have to do a lot of jigging about with things like the airbox, radiator, water bottles etc etc etc to get it to fit. I know that my 1.9TDI 130 is unlike any 130 I've seen to date due to everything being so squished in lol Quote
