julesanth Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Can anyone throw some light on whether you can now get your car serviced by a third party during the warranty period? And still have a claim under the warranty if there is a problem. The company car drivers here are all talking about it. Quote
Kev of Cov Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 It is my understanding that the rules changed about 2 years ago. Any garage can service your car and the warrantee is fine. Problems would occur i'm sure when the future warantee concern is in anyway connected to service items not serviced by you ford dealer. Its a fight when Ford dealers do the servicing - with 'ABC garage' High St, Anytown in the service book you would be avin a larff. When the dealer gets up off the floor and stops laughing you would realise that you have to play the game and have dealer service. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 The rules changed because of an EU ruling. But the devil can in the small print. I do not know what any of the current crop of warranties say as I have never (and am not ever likely to) bought a new car. But they can give you a minimum period warranty, with any extended warranty dependant on dealer servicing. For example a 3 year warranty that is a 2 year manafacturer's warranty, with a dealer's extra year tagged on. But the dealer's warranty can be conditional that you get your car serviced with them FROM NEW, not just in the final (extended) year. An anti-perforation warranty can insist on a dealer inspection.
