Guest joanne Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I have a 2.8 glx and the brakes have gone funny i got a strange noise then when you press the brakes they feel like they are grinding, this is worse when you are turning.I have had the pads and discs checked but they are fine. Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 You say you get a funny noise? and the brakes are grinding! are you feeling this through the brake pedal while your braking? if you are it could be the ABS playing up? this would happen more while your turning and braking due the speed differential of the wheels being greater at that moment and the ABS cutting in as it thinks you are skidding! if this is the case it could be just a duff wheel sensor? if not it could be a drive shaft or wheel bearing on it way out? best to get it checked out either way before something totaly fails and causes a greater problem! seatkid Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Hey! If that's really you Fredt, welcome back :D Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 In that case I would think ABS kicking in! as I said earlier it could be just a duff sensor? best to get the codes read and go from there, unless your any good at diagnostic work? have a decent multi meter and not afraid to get a bit grubby? if you fancy it do a search on the topic under TOPBLOKE IIRC he posted the sensor resistance measurements on an earlier post Quote
Guest joanne Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Thanks for your help i will give it a try tomorrow Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Juddering and grinding - could be warped discs? or a stone trapped somewhere nasty. How thorough was the check? If it happens each time that you brake, then something should have been found. Quote
