Hello everyone,

I have an interesting (well, to me anyway) problem with my air conditioning system, which works intermittently.

I'm pretty sure that the problem lies with the evaporator temperature sensor, yet, by all acoounts, my car should not have one, as it is fitted with climate control. There is defintitely one fitted though, as I have seen it and pulled it out to check that it is in one piece, wires from it (two of) lead up to somewhere towards the climatronic. I've tried to find a replacement, but no one seems to list it, which adds to the mystery!

Everything works well when the air con works and I've changed almost all the working parts on this system, and most of the pipework too. It works as follows:

Sometimes it will work when initially selected on, and sometimes not. When it works it chills down nicely and will cycle correctly for maybe ten minutes, then you can hear a relay literally oscillating in the climatronic and I use the "ECON" button to turn it off, leave it for several minutes, then switch it on again, when it will usually work ok for about ten further minutes.

If it does not start initially, I can switch the climate control to maximum temperature, leave it hot for a few minutes, then I will hear the climatronic click and the compressor will start, it then works fine again for another ten minutes or so.

Does anyone know where I could source an evaporator temperature sensor?

Thanks,
Rob
