psolak Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Hi, When you switch on the car the air con unit flashes for about 10 seconds then stay constant is this normal? Regards Quote
davec Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 had mine in for service they said it warning of fault, possible module or temp sensorsdid it for three years still doing it when i partexd it aircon worked fine Quote
psolak Posted August 2, 2004 Author Report Posted August 2, 2004 Thanks for that. Just has the system regassed this weekend by independant air con guy. There is cold air coming from all front vents but only warm air from the rear vent in the boot. Is the rear boot vent supposed to supply hot or cooled air? The Galaxy is a 2001 Ghia TDi 115 BHP ,the CC has controls for front and rear on it. Quote
Dally Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 The vent in the rear which is on floor level is not air conditioned. The only way to have cold air conditioned air in the back is via dual air con. The vents for this are located in the roof. Quote
Guest dmc Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 the display flashing means that there is a fault code listed in the cc module.was the refridgerant low before the re-gas?if so,then the fault logged will probably be for the pressure switch.take it to you dealer and ask them to read/clear the code and see how it is. you may have a refridgerant leak, was there any dye added to the system? psolak Posted August 3, 2004 Author Report Posted August 3, 2004 Hi, The panel started saying Lo when you decreased the temp lower than the outside temp. I thought it might be low on gas so took it took to air con specialist. ( Will not Ford's anywhere near it if I can help it) He said there was very little gas left in system so he filled it to 1000g - the system would not work - he said the system we may not have dual air con so he put in 700+(100 extra for standard single air con) and the system started to work. He said just confim with Fords that the rear blower unit in the boot does not have dual air con as the front display panel has temperature controls for rear. I dont think the air con has ever been regassed since it came out of the factory so I am not putting it down to a major leak. The aircon guy said a good vac was being formed and being maintained. Just two quick follow up questions; The display panel still flashes when started up and then stops - I am wondering if the grills on the front of the panel need cleaning - would this cause a flashing error if they were clogged up. The panel has controls for rear temperature settings, exactly which vents is the air supposed to come out of that it controls. Thanks in advance for your help. :D Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Flashing display will need to be cleared by plugging into diagnostic machine and re-setting. "Lo" on the display just means that you have set the temp below the minimum value that can be auto-controlled, so air should just blow as cold as possible - same effect in reverse at high temp, when display reads "Hi".On single air-con and single climate control (ie no roof vents) the rear blower just acts as a fan to circulate air within the rear of the cabin. IIRC the air comes out from the floor-level vents between 2nd and 3rd row of seats on nearside (RHD cars). Quote
Velcrohead Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Just to add to this thread, I have single climate control with the rear blower.I get a flashing display sometimes and VAG COM states that this is an intermittent rear blower, I think SEATKID said he had the same problem and it could not be sorted.Might be worth getting the codes read and see what they say.
