Guest mel_kenyon Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 I just thought I would add my own experiences to the DVD threads on this site. Firstly I have 3 kids under 10 and have had a Centurion screen and dvd. My thoughts are that having a dvd in a car is a good idea especially for long journeys but not having it permanently fitting is a real pain in the ***. I found that we tended not to use it because of the compexity of setting it up. My brother in law just bought a KIA Sedona which came with a roof mounted screen and dvd player installed under the seat - best thing about that car :) . I ordered a screen and player from www.mp3playerstore.com, and within a week it arrived - minus the player :( - after a couple of days they accepted that it was their fault and say they are sending a player next week. This weekend I fitted the screen and here are my thoughts:1. Roof mounted screen is actually the best place in the car for viewing - anywhere else and sun shines on the screen at some stage.2. Avoid screens (like mine) with speakers that face forwards, i.e. towards driver/front passenger who can't see screen and just get annoyed by loud explosions, beheading of orcs etc.3. Get an FM modulator (built in or add on) so "they" can hear soundtrack and "you" can talk to wife/listen to CD/radio etc. Alternatively soundtrack can be played through car stereo without blasting directly into your ear at high volume just so its loud enough in the back.4. If fitting a screen into a galaxy without a sunroof, use two 4" wide/20" long strips of thin plywood fed forward from central interior light postion (first removing foam bar inside headlining that would prevent this). The metal screen mounting plate can be screwed through the headlining into the plywood and then the screen fixed onto it.5. The dvd player that I have ordered is the smallest one which is the size of a CD "Walkman" and I am hoping to fit in into one of the dash hatches, when/if it arrives  Well thats all for now folks - hope this helps - I tried to fit the screen for several hours before hitting on the above method which was actually fairly quick. Guest mel_kenyon Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 No sunroof in my galaxy and no spare din space either, so your instructions elsewhere were helpful but having a sunroof must help at lot. Quote
