flames7607 Posted February 25, 2018 Report Posted February 25, 2018 Hi, Can anyone tell me whether the engine temperature gauge on the dash uses the same source as the engine temp readingI see when looking at the engine through Vag Com ? My engine does not seem to be getting up to temp, and it's either a faulty sender, or the thermostat stuck open. After a 30 minute drive the temp on Vagcom was only up to 70 degrees. Vehicle is a 2003 1.9 tdi Zetec Cheers Quote
BrianH Posted February 25, 2018 Report Posted February 25, 2018 (edited) Don't know for definite on the diesels, but the petrol's have 2 separate sensors for it. Both on thermostat housing. Easiest way to check is to unplug one of them and see what happens - if you have both affected by doing so you know it does. AFAIK its normal for the diesels to run cold without the aux heater working - Bear in mind there is a lot of coolant in these (approx 9 litres). Plus the diesel doesn't generate as much wasted heat, thats part of the reason for the booster heater in the first place. Your first port of call is to get that run-on pump working properly. I'd suspect you'd then just be left with the glowplug issue to sort out on the heater (your other post) Edited February 25, 2018 by BrianH Quote
flames7607 Posted February 26, 2018 Author Report Posted February 26, 2018 Thanks BrianH, I'm suspecting that the two problems may be linked. Cheers Quote
