graemer Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Can anyone tell me (any pictures?) where the temperature sensor is for the temp gauge on a new shape 2001 1.9 tdi. The tis Cd shows the v6 but I not the diesel as far as I can see - it just says it is at the front of the engine - I've had a look and cannot see it myself! My gauge is dropping to 0 and then back to normal - I can see others have had the same problem but none of the replies explain/show where the temperature sendor is? ThanksGraeme. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Is your car still under warranty? There is an issue with faulty dashboard clocks, and a fluctuating temperature gauge could be due to this..... Quote
graemer Posted August 2, 2004 Author Report Posted August 2, 2004 Thanks for the reply Ivor - I guess my car is out of warranty as it is now >3 years old. My main concern is that if it is the temp sender then will it affect engine running i.e. feedbacK to ECU or does the ECU use another sender for its temp information? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Sorry, don't know about the Galaxy. Previously I have had a Rover 820 which used 2 temp sensors, one for the gauge and the other for the ECU, mounted very close together on the thermostat housing. When I changed the thermostat I changed both sensors as a precaution. Quote
