buford_t_justice Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Does anyone know why the Galaxy has an ON/OFF switch for cruise control? What is the point?? My last car had cruise and you could activate it whenever without having to first switch it on!! Is there a problem just leaving it in the "ON" position all the time? Regards. Quote
ALARM MAN Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Dont know myself saves you catching it on acceleation and it setting on full revs Anyone else ? Ian Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 I leave mine permanantley on but when my wife used t drive the car I would switch it off "just in case". Quote
Richmond Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 I leave mine on permanently. No ill effects so far (18m+). Quote
NikpV Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 generally leave it on as well, the only time I turn it off is when I want to disengage it and don't want to touch the brake pedal (rare but happens sometimes) since don't have a clutch pedal (auto). Quote
Guest Nik Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 generally leave it on as well, the only time I turn it off is when I want to disengage it and don't want to touch the brake pedal (rare but happens sometimes) since don't have a clutch pedal (auto). In that case, can't you push the "can"(cel) button? Then you can easily "RES"(ume). I leave it on too, and always had the same question as you, Hijacker. My wife doesn't dare to use it :D Quote
NikpV Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Maybe being thick here but what 'Can(cel)' button? Quote
NikpV Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Ahh, Nik, are you refering to thr controls on the multifunction wheel, don't think ours has a cancel button :D Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 It prevents inadvertant operation - when you don't want it the most! It's safety related. Quote
ridway Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 My daughter once knocked the gear stick into neutral when sat in the centre second row. Quite a frightening experience if on cruise control because as the speed drops off the engine throttle is opened to compensate because nothings told Mr cruise to kick out. The revs go straight up to the rev limiter. Took a few seconds to work out what was happening. Thank goodness for the limiter (and tie wraps for the six year olds legs). I thought this was a good reason for switching the cruise control off. Rich Quote
