 Help, have tonight knocked a can of drink into my sat nav unit. The unit was dead for an hour but has now come back on with a dull screen. I am leaving the unit to dry out overnight and will try again. What a place to put a drinks holder right above the radio unit!! I go to France on Monday so hopefully it will be resolved.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you have the correct "keys" take it out of the car and stick it in your airing cupboard. If still no joy, you could risk "cleaning" it by pouring distilled water over it, then drying it thoroughly in your airing cupboard for a week.

Or you could claim under your insurance.......

If you think the position is bad wrt cup-holders, when the Focus was being designed, Ford intended to fit the fuel cut-off inertia switch under the cupholders. As I worked for the manufacturers of this device at the time, we politely pointed out the risk from spilt drinks and Ford re-positioned the switch. For any of you who had Sierras, it was NOT us who told Ford to put the switch by the spare wheel, so that when you threw the old one in there after a puncture, you then found that the car would not start again.......

Ivor, sounds like a guilty apology to me (abouth the Sierra's)!!! I remember

standing in the pouring rain thinking....my god, these things are getting too

complicated, you get a puncture and it cuts the petrol supply!!! Only walking

home and reading the manual could I find the cut-off switch, cussed walking

all the way back (still raining)!!! :D :D

879jtt...try and leave the unit somewhere warm as Ivor suggested for as long as possible then put it back in and leave it on for as long as possible, the heat generated by the unit will assist the drying. It will appear dull whilst still damp as the tft pixels are not getting to correct operating temperature...

Cheers Guys,

With the warm weather the inside of my Gal is boiling so the Sat Nav unit today has slowly dried out and is now fully functional. Phew thought I would have to go on holiday to France with no music or video and also the thought of reading a map scares me.

To all you fuel conscious Gal drivers, my V6 will be certainly be put to the test over the next three weeks on the French autoroutes. I will report back later with consumption figures to all you diesel polluting drivers.

Thanks again for the advice guys

Kind regards
