buford_t_justice Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 I was under the impression that an 2003(53) Galaxy Ghia TDi would have an auto dipping rear view mirror. Just got my Gal yesterday and it doesn't !! Now I'm thinking it's the 2004 models which have this unless it was originally specified as an option. Is this correct? Quote
turnip Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 It is not on the 53 plate Tdi sharan but is on the 04. Quote
Marky Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 It was an option on the 2003 MY...now fitted as standard along with Dual Airconand an extra Remote Key !!! Mine ain't got it either but with all that black privacy glass who needs it ??? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 Who needs a dipping mirror anyway? Don't think I have ever used the mirror dip facility in over 25 years of driving. Quote
buford_t_justice Posted July 31, 2004 Author Report Posted July 31, 2004 Thanks for the comments. So far I've been really pleased with the Galaxy and hope for this to continue for some while. Since getting the car yesterday I've racked up 500miles on all types of roads and different loads and all for Avg 46mpg. You can't beat it!! Especially since my last car was a 3.2 Omega Elite Auto and I was lucky to get 25mpg !! I hope to contribute to the forum wherever possible as my experience of this car increases. Happy motoring everyone! :D Quote
ALARM MAN Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Hi mate we went from 2lt Carlton 25 mpg to Gal TDI Wow what a difference Not going back that is for sure Ian Quote
julesanth Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 I have been driving a company car with auto dimming rear view mirror, and it is one of those things you think you can do without until you use it. The change is quite subtle because in most cases it detects brighter than nomal headlights from a far distance, so by the time the offending car has got close you don't realise it has full beam on, the change back to normal is also very subtle. davec Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 ive got it and i think its c*** its too small and pushing a dip lever hardly hurts i wish id got my old one back Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 ive got it and i think its c*** its too small and pushing a dip lever hardly hurts i wish id got my old one back Why not swap it to a standard mirror? its just a case of unclipping the mirror and unplugging it! once the cables are tucked away you wouldnt know it had been there! I have a spare standard mirror if you want to swap? :D Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 ...or just buy one of the wide-field-of-view clip-on ones from your local motoring accessory shop :D Quote
davec Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 ill see what one costs from stealer,at least i can put it back to sell it dont like the headrests either, the bars are to long with the child seats and dont push right to seat so its awkward folding seats forward, you would think the design would improve on newer versions, also the trip computer doesnt give distance to fill up.If my old one had been as fast as my 130 i would have kept it til it fell apart Quote
