Headlamp Issues - Nightmare

Managed to drop the mainbeam bulb retaining clip inside the unit and it wont come out - its stuck.

 

Any ideas where I can buy a replacement? Or is it possible to get the glass off - I tried and can't.

 

Also, managed to snap off one of the brackets holding the unit in place so now its only  held my one screw. Bad idea - not ideal.

 

New unit, even 2nd hand is not cheap :-(

Give a clue - what version is it as the headlights differ?

 

Ebay can be a good source for headlights, as can breakers yards/scrapyards.

have you tried tying a small magnet to some string and trying to hook it?

Failing that I've tried to get the glass/lens off but its not so easy? Does it even come off?

think you have to heat the whole light up?

 

if you cant hook it out,then remove the whole unit and give it a bloody good shake.

No, the mk.1 lights come apart nicely, but the plastic mk.2 lights are bonded together.

 

As greger says,you'll have to take it off the car and give it some jiggle.
