johnb80 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I'm waiting to take delivery of a DMS Dual system, basicly a black box that plugs into the OBDII port you click a button and it swaps the maps from standard to modified. You can do it as many times as you like and the dealer doesnt see it cause come service time you just swap it back to standard.Where do you buy these from and what sort of price are they? It sounds like an excellent solution, keep us informed how you get on with it. Regards - John Quote

buford_t_justice Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 Davetheref, Was the Ebay auction you got your device from somebody called "Redi tuning"? If so, I've seen a few of his auctions but at the moment he doesn't have any for sale and they tend to sell for about Quote
Davetheref Posted August 16, 2004 Author Report Posted August 16, 2004 HijackerYep, I bought mine from Redi Tuning. I ended up paying Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Been running the Dual system now for nearly 2 weeks and the differance is amazing, power band starts at around 1600 rpm now and tails of at around 4400rpm top end has increased to over 120mph not had the balls to see how far she will go yet! but she hits 100mph in 5th at only 3600 rpm, havent noticed what it is in 6th yet been to busy playing to see were the power is. MPG is up massivly city/town center driving used to return between 31mpg (pushing it) and 34mpg (normal driving, not economy driving) after a week of booting it and getting a feel for the power from junctions, traffic light races, etc basicly doing everything I could to get a crap mpg I returned a 36mpg figure (think it was actually 35.8 but cant remember too well now) I cant seem to get myself to just do an economy run though! I find myself booting it and putting a smile on my face as well as upsetting the little boy racers in their Saxo's from the lights. Its the first car that I've had wheel spin in 3rd in a straight line (ok its easy to do it going round a corner or in the wet but in the dry was quite shocking. I'm having great fun best Quote
Richmond Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 but she hits 100mph in 5th at only 3600 rpm Glad that you're enjoying it. What is the significance of the passage I've quoted? presumably all Galaxys with the same box, tyres, final drive etc hit 100mph at 3600 in 5th, no? Quote
Guest OXO2 PUB Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Err Yeah. :( Had been on a bit of a bender that afternoon , cant remember posting that to tell you the truth. At a guess I think I was trying to express how quickly she gets to a ton, I just didnt do a very good job of it lol. I blame my occupation :( Quote
Guest fredt Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 I came across a 2.3 TURBO this afternoon! had a chat with the owner, and he was telling me about the car apparently it was owned by the police! I told of this site so if he finds his way here he can tell us all about his beast :( Quote
buford_t_justice Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Dave, I finally got round to bidding for one those Redi tuning boxes. Seems they are now at Version 2.2 but I have no idea what has changed. I hope to receive it tomorrow and will post more info shortly. I take it you are still getting on good with yours? Regards. Hijacker. Quote
Davetheref Posted September 28, 2004 Author Report Posted September 28, 2004 Hijacker Glad to hear someone else is going for this and ,yes, still no problems and runs great. When i visted my brother last month, he has a company Galaxy with the same spec as mine and he couldn't believe the difference when I let him take it for a spin. Must remember to remove it when the first service is due as I don't what Fraud would do if they spot it even though from what I've read on here about their servicing they wouldn't spot a Jersy cow if attached one to the engine. I'd be interested to know what version 2.2 does above the one I have. I forgot to ask you. Do you have the 130 bhp engine? Dave Quote
buford_t_justice Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Mine's the 115bhp. It would appear it's a "plug and play" type upgrade but have you any tips for a trouble free installation ?? Quote
Davetheref Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 HiyaYep you're right , it is plug and play but the trouble I had was where exactly to plug it in. As soon as I got the engine cover off I loked everywhere and couldn't figure out where to put it. In the end I sent Redi a picture of my engine and he returned it with the area I needed ringed in red. Found it straight away then as it was in front of me the whole time. Nick from Redi was very helpful and patient the whole process. Dave Quote
buford_t_justice Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Fitted the unit this morning and not a bad installation if I say so myself! The cable was just long enough for me to store the silver box in the compartment where the battery and relays are. Initial impressions are more power in the pre-turbo revs (i.e. 1000-2000rpm) to the extent that I would have normally expected to drop a gear if I wanted to hurry along and fuel economy that is going to take a full tank to prove. For a journey that I know I average 42mpg I'm now getting 55mpg!! I still don't believe it but I'm gonna fill the tank up and do a test. If this is the case I'll be able to recover the cost of the unit in approx 5 tank-fulls. Still sceptical though!! Quote
