So both my rear doors have given up. I've got an issue with the central locking anyway. I tend to not lock it, now both rear doors won't open from inside or outside as if the deadlocks are active. How can I open them please?? Lol

Any difference if you use the boot door lock barrel to unlock the car?

I'd suspect broken wires in the drivers door have caused it to get deadlocked, might be worth checking for those and repairing then trying to lock/unlock?

I've not tried the boot lock no.... I'm gonna leave that for now in case that locks too lol

I need that access this week as we are away

It it's purely a faulty central locking problem, you might be able to force the unlock by putting 12V up the right wires at the door plug. As Brian says, the most likely cause is driver's door and tailgate wiring inside the rubber gaiters - especially the tailgate.

I had a rear door stuck locked, all the wiring on mine looked okay. In the end, it turned out water had got into the lock mechanism and seized the motor shaft.

It was a pain to get into. In case you have to, you need to remove the door card and vapour barrier, then use a small right angle philips screwdriver to remove the (barely) accessible screws holding the lid on the box around the lock mechanism. I used a screwdriver bit and adapter in a small ratchet. There is then just enough room to insert a long slender screwdriver to the rear of the lock to operate the unlocking mechanism manually.

As far as i know the boot doesn't deadlock (its got no inside handle to lock, or at least mine hasn't, the mk2 might be different). If i unlock the boot using the key it unlocks the rest of the car at the same time if its locked. I'd try that, if it does work I'd suspect either the drivers door wiring to be suspect, or the drivers door lock to be defective.

Given that both rear doors have locked I wouldn't expect the rear doors to be the source of the problem, although they may be.

It might also be worth trying to disconnect the battery to see if it will unlock that way?

I've tried locking it and unlocking it from the boot to no avail! Nightmare getting 2 toddlers and a baby in at the moment'! I'll try the battery disconnect method. Should I try to unlock it while the battery is not connected or reconnect it first.

I'd try operating the inner door handles on the rear doors as a first step. Did you check the drivers door wires though?

First port of call is definitely the wiring, it's certainly not impossible for wires to be broken in both the driver's door and the tailgate, or wiring shorting out preventing unlocking.

As Brian says, if both rear door locks failed at the same time, it's likely that the problem is elsewhere, and probably electrical. However if one went after the other, the rear doors are more likely culprits.
