Sherpa59 Posted August 9, 2017 Report Posted August 9, 2017 I have 54 plate galaxy ghia. Suddenly, the foot well, rear footwell and boot lights are coming on whilst driving. The front footwell ones are even flashing on and off. I can hear something clicking near the steering column when they do this. All doors and boot correctly closed. When I switch off and lock the car, they are staying illuminated (Well beyond the normal courtesy period). Am having to disconnect the battery to avoid running it down. Which means can't lock it either. Any suggestions? I have zero technical knowledge but can follow instructions/ guidance! Thanks. Valerie Quote

ValerieBroken wires in the door gaiter - most likely either the boot or drivers door. Theres instructions in the FAQ section at the top of the forum, but first step would be to pull the rubber boot back to see if you can see broken wires inside - if so you need to fix them (instructions also in the faq). You only need to check the right hand side gaiter on the boot door, the lefthand one is just pipes no wires. Quote
gregers Posted August 9, 2017 Report Posted August 9, 2017 as above but also check the door switches in case of a bad earth somewhere. Quote
seanwhu Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Hope you resolved the problem but mine did this and turned out to be a door switch. Quote
