Craftie2004 Posted July 15, 2017 Report Posted July 15, 2017 Hi, New to forum, but have looked about and not sure where to find a replacement engine temperature sensor. I have an 09 2.0 TDCi Galaxy (I assume a MK3) and I have a problem with the temp gauge. On motorway driving, it sticks steady at just under 90, but when driving at speeds less that 60mph, it drops to approx 75 before going back to 90, and repeat. I saw a similar issue on the Mk2 forum, but I would like to have a go myself at changing, but at a loss, as there are so many sensors out there, and dont want to pick the wrong one. Thanks in advance. Quote
BrianH Posted July 17, 2017 Report Posted July 17, 2017 It would be a mk3 What i've done on trying to identify the right sensor on the mk1 when i had similar issues (mine would vary anywhere between off the scale and stone cold within a few seconds - you could literally watch it sweep the entire gauge width) was to unplug the temp sensors to discover which one caused the gauge to drop to zero. Sods law it was the more awkard one of the two in my case to remove (the one at the bottom of the housing). But that should give you an idea where the sensor you need is, which makes it easier to locate on a parts diagram. Alternatively the other way to find the culprit is to ask which sensor drives the gauge from where your buying the replacement sensor from. Then you know what the connector looks like (provided they give you the right one of course) Quote
Craftie2004 Posted July 26, 2017 Author Report Posted July 26, 2017 Thank you Brian, I have got a sensor, and hopefully it is the correct one - will find out when I try this evening Quote
