Hi, recently bought a 56 plate Galaxy Zetec 2.0 TDCi, about 3 weeks after I bought it I lost power overtaking and had to pull back in as it had gone into limp home mode, it has done it a few times since and is fine after a switch off and restart - to the point that I now just do this whilst rolling along! I'm now fairly read up on this issue after having read some of the posts here and I have ordered a new MAF sensor to see if that works firstly, failing that I will be cleaning the turbo and actuator.

More recently I have another issue in that the car wont start sometimes and I'm wondering if it is connected in any way? Battery good and the engine will turn and turn no bother, it will eventually kind of kick in, but sounding as if it is being starved of fuel or only running on a few cylinders, if I'm lucking it will splutter like this for a while before settling to a normal run and engine idle, or just cut out.

Checked fuel lines as best as could as seem ok, doesn't seem to be any splits in the inlet manifold pipework, could this problem be connect to the above one with the power loss?

It seems to start first thing in the morning no problem, problem seems to be at worst through the day when engine is warm and I going back to it after a short stop, it used to be the case that I would just wait 5 minutes and it would start no problem, but the last couple days that isnt working and the problem is definitely getting worse. Any help much appreciated!

Injector harness on some of the mk2s have been known to produce faults somewhat like the second bit you mention. Is it a MK2 you have or a MK3 (2006 could be either). mk2 would have a flat floor inside the back looking from the boot, mk3 is more like a normal car in the back - the floor drops down under the middle seats

2.0 TDCi must be a mk.3 car surely? If it is, you might have better luck asking in the mk.3 section.

With regards to mk.3 questions being posted in here, I wonder if it would help if '95-06', or '1995-2006', could be added to the mk.1/2 section title, and '06-on' or '2006-on' to the mk.3 section title?

Hi Brian, thank you for your reply - sorry about the delay in mine but had to go away fro a few days. It is a MK3 I have, checked the injector wires already, there was a slight chafe in one of the wire sleeves, but nowhere near gone through, thats been taped up now. No sign of my MAF sensor yet that I ordered! Will chase up today. I read somewhere else that if you disconnect the Maf sensor while the engine is running the engine should cut out, if it doesn't this is a sign of a faulty sensor? I can disconnect mine and it keeps on running?

Ooops! Sorry, bit of a 'forum virgin' and did not realise I was in the wrong section, will repost in the MK3 section. Thanks.

That's okay, it's not very clear which section is which. Us old stagers know where everything is.

I just thought you would be more likely to get a response in the other section.

The mk2 Sharans and Alhambra range continues upto 2010 - and the diesels are effectively the same vehicle with different badges (petrol ones similar besides the engine) so its not as clear a distinction between the mk2 and mk3.

But yes you have much more chance under the mk3 section as the mk3 is what you've got and shares nothing besides the name with the Galaxy!

To be fair Brian, it is a Ford Galaxy forum! :P

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;)

There were some changes to the Sharan/Alhambra after Ford left the project, including the new 2.0 PD diesel and electrical system changes to remove the Ford bits, particularly PATS.

Yep - An MPV forum that seems to get almost as many posts about performance parts as problems! Removing the Ford bits would make sense and as you say its a Galaxy forum although the occasional owner of the other badges does find their way here.
