Hi all

I have this water leaking from around the near side rear wheel arch. Always seems to be there. I do have to keep topping up the coolant but a can't imagine it's leaking here, although I'm open to ideas lol definitely not the washer as I know that is currently disconnected in the passenger footwell.

check the pipes to your booster heater.

make sure engine is running while you check for leaks, needs to be pressure in system so it will leak easily.   i was given an old unit off a Vauxhall (honest)  that had cracked internally and water was dripping out of the booster heaters exhaust pipe.  Vauxhall mount them behind the headlamp he said---no antifreeze in system so that's probably what caused his to fail.

if it is coolant you should be able to tell the difference by the smell? if you put something clean under where it drips from (washing up bowl, preferably a white one!) you should be able to match it to the coolant.

Does yours have rear air con?

If you weren't having to top up, I would say condensation from the aircon evaporator.

Collect some, or dab it with a white tissue. If it's clear, it's probably condensate. If it's tinged with pink/purple/yellow/green etc., it's probably coolant leaking from the rear heater matrix or pipework.

It's been doing it for months, on and off. Does it all the time now though. I'll have to check the rear matrix. How do I access that please?

Think you'd be looking at taking the inside trim panel off at that side? Thats the only access i know of to access the rear heater in mine (no rear air con)

You might want to check the drain on it is clear first - it must come through there somewhere, you may be able to clear it with a straw or similar item, or may find its trapped in some way that causes water to build up in the unit.

Hi,

I had same problem. It turned out to be coolant leaking (was having to topup) from the rear heater pipes in the rear passenger wheel arch. The original "squeeze" pipe clips looked ok but one disintegrated when touched. Replaced with jubilee clips and problem solved.
