Guest NewbieGalaxyOwner Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Car Failed its MOT on the licence plate bulbs, not a real disaster, well not until i replaced the bulbs. The lights were on when i slipped the holder back into position and they went out. Front set are ok, brake, reverse and indicators are OK but not rear lights ??????????/ I have checked all the fuses wiring and earth and am contemplating replacing the relays Has anybody got any advice please. Guest Andyjflet Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Is there a rubber grommet around the blub holder to stop the unit coming into contact with the bodywork of the car. Maybe if this is missing its shorting out. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Are the bulbs moving in their holders? Once had to get a Fiat's rear lights to work by wedging cardboard in the lamp holders to press the bulbs to one side to make good contact. Italian electrics - don't you just love them! Quote
Guest NewbieGalaxyOwner Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 When the bulbs are out and hanging loose there is still no power, stange thing is that the rear night lights are out inc the licence plates but the rest are fine. I checked the wiring loom block connectors in the rear left hand well space in the boot wall (estate focus) and there is no power. I checked all the fuses and even swapped around a few realys but there is defintly no power getting through. Cant understand it, i have checked everything. Quote
Guest EVSS Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 i had this the other day with our focus, check all the fuses in the internal fuse box and the underbonet one as some circuits use 2 fuses.. by the way ours is a 2.0 on the x reg. and for a little while had us confused too. Quote
Guest NewbieGalaxyOwner Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Where is the internal fuse box ? Quote
Guest vitrocmax Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Can you clarify a few points, because there are many variables we need to narrow it down a bit. The car is a Focus, but which one. There are differences between models, so it would help to narrow that down. Normally the CJB (Central Junction Box, or internal fuse box) is under the dash at the opposite side of the car to the steering wheel, but this is not always the case. A bit of searching under the dash is needed. You mentioned license plate in the first post, now after fitting new bulbs it seems the license plate and the sidelights are not working. There are no relays for the license plate, and they are fed from a separate fuse (F62 in the CJB) to the sidelights. The sidelights share a common bulb with the brake lights, but the brake lights are working? Stranger than fiction! Quote
