neil the courier Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Hi all. I currently use a 2005 tdi 115 as a courier vehicle. I have replaced the dmf and clutch plus a few of the other usual issues and It is driving very well but thinking about its age and 115k miles, I was wondering about changing to a mk3 diesel (don't mind which engine). Space wise, it would do the job and its a good looking motor but I don't know much about its reliability or wether its strong enough to do my job with.I would appreciate any thoughts.Cheers. Quote
BrianH Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 The mk3 doesn't have the flat floor of the earlier models, depends what your couriering as to if that matters to you though. Quote
neil the courier Posted April 27, 2017 Author Report Posted April 27, 2017 Thanks. The floor thing wouldn't be a problem. Im more concerned about things like the clutch, brakes, suspension. I appreciate the vw lump was not without some issues, but in the main it a fairly strong engine. I don't know anything about the ford engine in the mk3. I've seen quite a lot of taxis using them, which perhaps bodes well for reliability, and lots for sale have pretty eye watering mileage of 150k +++! Im in no hurry as mine is driving well but I do rather like the newer shape and interior spec. Quote
