t-aslam Posted February 14, 2017 Report Posted February 14, 2017 Hi guysI have 2005 galaxy and lately I have a bit of a problem with the drivers door lock. Now before I begin I'll clarify that I replaced the drivers door wiring loom ( in December 2016) with a brand new one from the stealers as my original repair from 3 years ago failed and kept blowing out a fuse despite attempts to re-repair. After replacing the loom the remote was working fine locking and unlocking the car as normal. However now when I use the remote to lock the car all the doors do lock with the exception of the drivers door and the fuel flap. In fact with the fuel flap the lock pin moves back and forth a few times and then gives up. I lock the car now with the key and strangely all the doors lock (with the exception of the fuel flap). The unlock works for all doors 7/8 times out 10 otherwise a key is needed there too (because it doesn't always unlock the drivers door). I'm confused as whatever it is is affecting just the drivers door and fuel flap. Any ideas? Quote
gregers Posted February 14, 2017 Report Posted February 14, 2017 have you check for problems in ALL door gators including the rear hatch. Quote
t-aslam Posted February 14, 2017 Author Report Posted February 14, 2017 No I didn't think they'd affect the drivers door and fuel flap. Quote
t-aslam Posted February 14, 2017 Author Report Posted February 14, 2017 I'll have a check of those tomorrow Quote
gregers Posted February 15, 2017 Report Posted February 15, 2017 you will be surprised what electrical problems in 1 door/hatch can affect the whole car.especially the 1's in the hatch, can make you feel the cars possessed. Quote
t-aslam Posted February 16, 2017 Author Report Posted February 16, 2017 Ok inspected all remaining doors including boot lid wires and no broken wires. I did however find that a fuse for the right side (drivers side) alarm function was partially melted. Unfortunately I had no fuses of that size so I'll replace that today later at some point and see how I get on. Quote
t-aslam Posted February 16, 2017 Author Report Posted February 16, 2017 Ok replaced the fuss and still nothing. I give up lol. Quote

Because the key moves the door lock unit it will work in this state after a fashion, but the remote function will see a door not locked and then unlocks them again. You might also find it worth looking at the connector in the door pillar just in case there is any burnt or corroded pins on the socket. Quote
t-aslam Posted February 17, 2017 Author Report Posted February 17, 2017 I'm in total shock here. I reopened my new drivers door gator plug connector at the door hinge side and it's filled with water. Pulled the rubber gator back and there's water there too. Completely ruined £160. Where the hell has this water come from? My drivers door lock is broken and has the metal plate missing, could water have got in from there? Quote
t-aslam Posted February 17, 2017 Author Report Posted February 17, 2017 Just threw some water over the window and saw that the water is entering from the window seal bear the wing mirror. Quote

You will probably get away with removing the water from the gaiter etc (allow the connector to dry out on both sides) then give it a shot of water dispersement spray (wd40 or gt85 etc). And fix the leak of course! Quote
t-aslam Posted February 18, 2017 Author Report Posted February 18, 2017 Unfortunately it was very bad. The water has caused so much rust and corrosion that two wires broke at the pin Quote
BrianH Posted February 18, 2017 Report Posted February 18, 2017 You might have better luck making a hole through a empty part of the connector to allow a piece of wire through to bypass the connector where the damaged pins are, Surprised it ruined it that quickly though. Good luck getting it sorted. Quote
