Galaxy Mk2 Heater

i have a 2005 ford galaxy mk2 tdi. iv noticed lately that my heater has a funny smell coming through when blower is on, smells a little like water burning, if anyone can help i would be most grateful. many thanks john

If its a sweet sickly smell its likely to be leaking coolant, Replacing the heater matrix is likely to be required if so.

 

Do you find the screen mists up more than you'd expect, especially on the hot setting? Does the smell go away with the cold setting selected?

 

You might also notice the water level in the expansion tank dropping over time, though it doesn't take much to leak to smell it.

if its when the blower is on you should check the auxiliary fusebox on top of the battery; I also had the burning smell first thing of a morning when de-misting front screen........

 

turned out to be the plastic fusebox was melting !!!
