inbloomgardens Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 Hi, The cambelt went on my 09 Ford galaxy and I was told that I needed a new engine as there was piston damage. I sourced an engine from a dealer and paid just short of £1000 for it. I got a garage to fit it and all was great for a few days until the car developed a clutch issue, I couldn't select a gear while the engine was on but could when turned off. It was like this for about 5mins and then would be fine. Took it back the garage who replaced the clutch, the problem was still there after. I was told to ask the supplier what the engine code was and what car it was off to which he replied with KKDA and it was off a 2010 ford focus. The garage has said that the issue is that the parts for the galaxy won't fit the focus engine but the supplier is saying that it will. I'm completely stumped, can anyone help? Quote
BrianH Posted January 29, 2017 Report Posted January 29, 2017 Best bet is go back to the supplier of the engine and see if you can get hold of the reg/vin - do a lookup on that detail for the part number for the clutch including the slave cylinder, and compare to your own reg. You have said what engine you've fitted, but not what engine was in the Galaxy in the first place? I've known the difficulty selecting gears when running to be down to the gearbox oil level dropping too low - It might be worth a check of it as well. Quote
