Hi  I have  been having a few electrical problems... first thing was  that I put the wipers on  and the drivers side  started to hit the windscreen frame ( I was on the motorway so I put them on intermittent... they eventually got right out of sync then failed fortunately near a service station. I checked that they were not loose  and all seemed ok   started the car again and all was fine.  I then noticed the next day that when I start the car the drivers side wiper moves about an inch  and  until I operate them  it will not go back to its correct home position .... suffice to say I lived with it .

A few week later  The dreaded Alternator / Battery junction box fuse melted .. The AA got me going again and I read up on  this Common Failure of the alternator return wire. I have replaced the fuse box and am waiting to get the Wire sorted out (the fuse did go again )

Anyway   does anyone know if these two faults could be linked. Or if they have had the same problem with the wipers and how to over come it ??

The wiper mechanism is known to be problematic - the fix is to remove it, strip it down, clean up the spindles and lubricate them. There are threads here on doing so.

Which fuse blows?

Hi Brian

The Fuse that blew is the 150 amp alternator to Battery Junction Box. I have replaced the melted fuse box and  now remade and  soldered the crimp of the  alternator so  fingers crossed thats  done and dusted.

The windscreen wipers  is the next job.. I am just confused as to why they move on turning  the ignition key.... where is the power coming from ?
