G7EXZ Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Hi!I'm looking at buying a Diesel Manual Galaxy so which should I buy a late Mk2 or and early Mk3? Am I better off getting the late Mk2 as hopefully most of the issues have been ironed out OR are there no major issues to worry about on the Mk3 so the newer the better?? Not too sure about that weird handbrake on the Mk3 though? Which would be the best bet for budget motoring as we can only run one car? Finally having to update to a much newer car (for me anyway!!!) So it looks like I'm finally joining the electronics age which is going to be a shock to my system. Regards & thanks for any pearls of wisdom offered. StevePS. My current car is a 300TDi Discovery Quote
gregers Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 well what ever you choose it will be an upgrade, lol.welcome to the forum. it all depends on your budget. you could get a top end spec mk2 for more money then an early mk3.i would suggest you have a drive of both.the hand brake issue,i thought it was an improvement on the mk2,i had a smax slightly smaller then the mk3.info on the mk3 is slowly filltering down into forums like this, but still rather sketchy. G7EXZ Posted February 23, 2017 Author Report Posted February 23, 2017 Well I bit the bullet and after looking at about 5 cars I found a Mk3 2.0 Zetec that looked straight drove well & had good service records with it. It even had 2 keys and factory roof bars :DWill let you know how we get on with it! Quote
