Code For Ford Galaxy Titanium

Can anyone tell me if its posible to get a radio code for my wife's Ford Galaxy Radio, factory fitted from new never had code changed, just had new battery fitted local ford garage want £20 to take radio out, read serial number on the back call Ford and get a code and reprogram. Surely in this day an age this code should be tied to the registration or Chassis number and logged an a file at ford. Help if you can, many thanks

it is,there just being tight arses.

was it them who supplied the car from new?

i had the same trouble on my old smax,1st time i rang supplying dealer was told the same line as yourselves,

phoned again and used a different tact,im sure i posted what i said etc on here somewhere?

might be wise to do the same,i even had a independent audio shop try and charge me 75 quid.

the trouble with the modern codes is no one has them unless you pay for the privilege.

Certainly possible as stated above - You will need the serial number off the radio, as the only people who might (and stress might) have the number is ford. If you've had the car from new it should be on a card in the original handbook for the car - sometimes referred to as the radio passport if I remember correctly the last time I saw one.

 

Incidentally when your taking it out to check the serial number sometimes the last person in there has written the code number on the unit, its generated based on the serial number of the radio, not something you can change.
