ridway Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Just refuelled, the light had been on a while but I had to stop at 80 litres I'd no more cash on me. It was still going though, no puddles honest. Is this the norm for a 70 litre tank?? Quote
Denis Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Sounds a bit odd- I've had mine almost dry and never got anywhere near that amount in it. Either: -The petrol pump was 'faulty'. -Or the tank has a generous reserve, I wonder if anyone has ever run out of fuel and then noted how much it takes to refill it? Quote
seatkid Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Its a 70 litre tank with room for about 10 litres in the expansion space/filler tube. I once got 80 litres in on a very empty tank. But I had to try very hard and long and it was lierally brimmed (Netherland cheap diesel but coming home..) I would say it doesnt look right. When you fill up, check your not leaking fuel (look underneath) In any case, go and complain to the filling station - they are obliged by law I think to check the calibration of the pump (which sould be done regularly) - they just pump 10 litres into a calibrated flask - doesnt take long. If they don't play ball - complain to your local trading standards officer. Quote
ridway Posted March 12, 2005 Author Report Posted March 12, 2005 Just a follow on from a post some time ago. Incredibily I got 80.51 litres of fuel in the tank today at Tescos. Not bad for a 70 litre tank. Suprisingly also this was refuelled only just after the "please refuel" sign came. Not a drop spilled and no leaks underneath. Has anyone ever bettered this? Next door neighbour says the breather valve may be stuck open allowing all the breather and pipes to fill up with fuel rather than contain air/vapour. Rich Quote
pompadour Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 I got 74 ltrs last week and was a tad worried. :D whats the most distance anyone has got on a single tank of derv... Quote
iainkirk Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 I only manage 60 litres when the refuel light has just come on. I've never got it empty enough to get more than 70 litres in. Quote
JONESERIC Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 680 miles before my nerve lost out ( I had a gallon in the back!) Eric  Quote
Masked Marauder Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 When I picked up my (second hand) Alhambra I got nearly 80 litres in the tank, I thought that that was normal. I was trembling when handing the cash over at the desk, Quote
Guest Parme Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I once put in 83,5 litres. the trip computer indicated 0 at the time (engine was running on diesel fumes ???) The tank is 70 litres 'officially' but you can add about 15 litres. There is a large air pocket in the tank. the air can be evacuated by pressing a valve on the upper inside of the filling hole. I always use this trick when filling up, never had problems with it. Quote
