Remote Locking?

Hi guys,

We recently acquired an 05 plate Galaxy which has come only with one, non-remote, key...would this have originally had a remote key? And if so, is it possible to get a replacement?

welcome to the forum,yes it wouldve come with a remote.there is loads of info on the forum

about keys etc,can be done but not cheap.

So it looks like I can buy a remote key blank on eBay to be cut, and chip cloned, locally and then program the remote myself with a sequence of turns in the driver's lock?

er not if its cloned iirc.

thats where it will become expensive as it could be a visit to the dealers to be programed.

again you will need to read up on it,there is loads of info all about.

Thanks for your reply....do you know why this won't work if cloned? Have spent the past 2 hours reading everything on the forum about remote keys and can't find any more info on this.

My assumption was that I can get the key cut and transponder cloned to allow starting of the car, and I can then use the guide on this forum for programming remotes to program the new key to unlock/lock remotely.

from what i remember about it,you can only reprogram a new key if you already have 2 keys programmed into the system.

having a cloned key does not mean you have 2 keys,if you see what i mean.the codes will be the same.yes its complicated.

From what I've read that's true of programming it to the immobiliser, but programming a remote is done using a sequence of turns on the drivers door lock so does not necessitate two keys...could be wrong though.

If anyone has an 05 plate with an original remote key, I'd be very grateful if you could tell me what details are on the key after the Siemens 433.92mhz bit...
