Trying to fix friends Galaxy after the Garage replaced the rear Brake calipers and disks. She has had enough of repairs causing other problems and so has asked me.

The brake lights do not work at all now and yes the glow light is flashing but was doing so before the brak lights failed. Is there anything the garage could have failed to connect to cause this before I start fiddling with the brake switch?

If not then I'd like some advice please. The Galaxy is an R registered diesel with cruise control and has two switches - I think. I can't see well under the lower fascia and can't see how to remove this. If I get the Haynes manual will it tell me how to remove this and if not can someone tell me how to remove it and the fusebox, which I understand has to be removed. Also which switch is it likely to be, blue or black?

All advice greatfully received.

On my old V6 (N Reg) there was a switch on the brake pedal that gets pressed as the pedal goes down. It was black if I remember correctly.

I had a problem with the brake lights not coming on and it was this that needed adjusting as the brake pedal was not needing to travelling as far down after new pads etc. If you pressed really hard it came on but under normal braking you didn't need much travel and so it wasn't activated

It is fiddly to get to but I managed it by laying in the footwell with my head in the pedal area under the dashboard.

I can't remember exactly how to adjust it, but if you take it off I think it was quite obvious.

I have an R reg V6 auto on which the brake switch failed. Because it's the auto model I could not select drive due to safety regulations, the on board system decided that because I had no brake lights it's unsafe to drive.

I replaced the switch (about
