Hi Guys

I need to have a rant as both of the number plate lights on my 2003 Galaxy are in need of replacement which I discovered when changing a blown bulb and they fell apart in my hand.

I got two new aftermarket  holders from Euro car parts but the quality is really poor and one was already partly broken.

Fords in Buckinghamshire where I live don't supply them any more so I am at a loss as to what to do.

I cant believe that some thing as important as these lights (For MOT pass) are so badly made, and if I cant find a decent set that I would be faced at scrapping the vehicle?

Any ideas please

Thanks

If your anywhere near to Aylesbury or Thame then ASM are bound to be able to able to supply them even if as part of a larger assembly for used bits. ECP parts are usually OK but obviously they have not got this bit right. Have you spoken to them about it - I've had a couple of damaged bits they have replaced before without a problem (Galaxy air filter which was misshapen being one of these)

You can try eBay obviously, though if your after original parts theres a few companies who will send to you - http://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/ I've used for bits, as long as you can find a part number for the part in question its easy to look if they have them on stock.

Otherwise you might be looking at either trawling round scrapyards to find them or trying to find something similar enough to do the job.

Hi and thanks for the info

I did go back to ECP and they replaced the broken one but as the build quality is not really great  I ended up making one good one out of two and both lights are now working.

It looks to me that when they are made the damage occurs when the bulbs are put in as the metal tags heed to be opened  to take the bulb and in doing so the plastic holder is so easily fractured.

Thanks

Cheaply made rubbish by the sounds of it - though I've seen original ford ones that are no better, its not a good piece of design with those type of bulbs being used.
