Richmond Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Thanks for the explanations about pre-registered. There's something in there that doesn't make sense, but I can't put my finger on it (I'm sure that the explanations are correct, but it seems a nonsensical system). Quote
Davetheref Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 ""but it seems a nonsensical system"" I know what you mean but I wouldn't argue or worry about because as I said earlier in thr thread, I am now on my 2nd pre-reg and have saved thousands doing so. I would never buy new again whilst pre-reg's are around. Quote
julesanth Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Have you looked at the SEAT Alhambra's? The SE variant has loads of goodies and is cheaper than the Galaxy. Quote
Guest AlanA Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Have you looked at the SEAT Alhambra's? The SE variant has loads of goodies and is cheaper than the Galaxy. If SEAT had a factory in the UK employing British people, I would consider them, but as they do not put into the economy of the UK (apart from a few dealers jobs compared to the thousands employed directly or indirectly for Ford) I don't. Its just a personal thing with me. Quote

I'm not sure how you buy a new, genuinely UK family car these days. Can't even get a TVR, it's owned by a Russian. It'll have to be Morgan (not strictly speaking a family car) or a Bristol. I wish. Ah yes, but Ford employ thousands inBridgened wales, Transit factory Southampton, DuntonLand rover Solihull & GaydonJaguar Coventry, Birmingham, Liverpool. Galaxy may not be UK made but the company does keep UK people in jobs. Quote
Richmond Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I'm sorry, but I still want a Bristol. Quote

Guest rusty Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Hi There, Being totally non-mechanical and not that knowledgeable about performance, drive, mpg etc etc (not that interested if I'm honest) I would say that one of the most important parts of the car is the dashboard. Don't buy the car which has a dashboard that you don't like the look of? Bearing in mind we spend the bulk of driving time looking at it, if you buy a car with a dashboard you don't like you won't enjoy the car. Regards Russell Quote

In that case dont buy a MK2 Galaxy :D have you seen where they stuck the clock? funny little oval thing stuck in the middle of no where :D Quote
galantlad Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 not the middle of no where Middle of dashboard top !!!! :D :D :D Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Oh dear, not back to this again are we? I like the oval clock and its position :D Quote
johnb80 Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 If the only fault people can find with the Galaxy is the Oval clock and it's position it must be a good car! I like the clock, I like where it is, I can't fault it at all. Regards - John Quote
Richmond Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 I don't mind the clock being where it is, although it seems an odd place to put it given that it could have been put a bit closer to the driver (of the car to which it belongs, rather than of the one in front). Quote
Another?Maybe! Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Clocks OK in the daytime now I remember where to look. Difficult to read when dark and car lights on though. Perhaps it's my varifocals?! Quote
