egg Posted July 16, 2016 Report Posted July 16, 2016 Hi all, first post and already looking for some advice before my foots even in the door! Today after ages looking for a car i took the plunge and bought a 2001 tdi 113bhp galaxy. Took it for a long test drive and it drove lovely, so decided to buy. Drove it back home 90 miles without a hiccup, everything fine. Now, after having a closer look on getting home i noticed the coolant level has dropped down from max to below min. The gauge on the way home didn't budge from 90c. Just got my mates obd11 scanner and the software and these codes came up. (wished i brought him with me) VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.2Saturday, 16 July 2016, 17:43:31. 4 Faults Found:17571 - Fuel Temp Sensor (G81): Open or Short to Plus P1163 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent18077 - Shareware Version. Should i be getting worried? Really appreciate any help or advice anyone is willing to provide, and looking forward to getting my hands dirty if needed. Just want to know if i'm biting off more then i can chew. :P Quote
BrianH Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 Both those faults may have been caused previously - First step if i were you is to clear them and scan again, see if they come back later. You obviously have a possible coolant leak somewhere - Few likely places, worst possibility is the heater matrix, Can you smell coolant anywhere? (set heater to hot when checking). Or see it coming out from anywhere (bear in mind you have the rear heater as well to check, might help to drop the engine lower cover off first to have a look, assuming its there of course!) Quote
