I was checking out the owners handbook on the Galaxy cambelt change, and it appears below on the photo of the handbook that the TDi cambelt change on the yr 2000 onwards models is at 60,000 miles or 5 years.....

Yes, but after a couple of months of producing the facelifted model, they re-printed the book to show 4 years/40,000 miles :(

..and increased the warranty to three years for UK-supplied cars :o

Ford also recommend changing the cam belt tensioner pulley at the same time as belt change.

40,000 miles is the recommended interval between cam belt changes according to all my research.

Having been an Audi owner make sure the cam belt tensioner is changed at the

same time (they should advise this but you know what they are like !)

My Audi A4 1.9 Tdi 115bhp was advised at 60K miles or FOUR years...whichever

sooner.

I have now had timing belt changed, thanks for advice. The garage did it that supplied the car, as it should have been done at the last major service, belt changed at 50,000 miles. 10k over due, no thanks to Fords Manual that came with the car thats says 60,000 miles for diesel Galaxy.......

I recently bought the French equivalent to a Haynes manual for the Golf Mk4 - this is the best book I could find that covers the TDI PD engines. Funnily enough, I have been surprised at how much use this is for other areas of the Alhambra as well as the engine.

Anyway, this book states that the cambelt and tensioner should be changed at 60,000 km (40,000 mile) intervals, but that the belts now being supplied as replacements (and fitted to the later cars) have been improved and the change interval increased to 90,000 km (60,000 miles). I will look up the relevant part numbers tonight.

Hi All

I am soon to pickup my 2001 1.9 Deisel that has 53000 miles on the clock, I will be doing a cambelt change even if it was done at 40000 just for my own peace of mind, Can I get the parts from German and Swedish as I asume the PD engine is the same as the SHARAN and does anyone know the VW part numbers for the cam belt and the tensioner pully?

Cheers Andy.

There is also an idler roller.

The parts you require are available as a kit from German Swedish & French.
