Hi Fellow Members

I have a Ford Galaxy 2005 1.9TDI. The central locking unit has been unstable. Both rear passenger doors do not open with the central locking. Front doors and tail gate are ok.

Where is the central locking module located on the vehicle.

Regards Hitesh.

Its not likely to be the module, its much more likely to be broken wires - common issue on the Galaxy.

Check all the door gaiters and repair any wires - You don't say if your able to open either of the rear doors from inside, or if they are deadlocked?

As BrianH says, unlikely to be the central locking module which on later cars is integrated into the body control module behind to the fusebox.

BrianH is correct, far more likely to be wiring problems - check the wiring in the rubber gaiters on all doors, including the tailgate. If you cannot open the rear doors at all, you should be able to access the rear door wiring at the B-pillar when you open the front doors.

My last problem with the locking was a failed motor unit, and one rear door was deadlocked shut. It was not easy to rectify, but can be done. Unlikely in your case, I would have thought, due to both rear doors having the same problem.

Mine is a little bit odder to diagnose, I have two key, a red one and a thin key. I can only open the drivers door with the thin key, passenger takes both. Tailgate and drivers door open on the drivers door. O/s passenger door you have to pull the handle many times for it to open, but you can push the handle back in to lock it from the inside. N/side passenger door handle opens but won't even push in to lock. N/side front passenger will unlock and lock on the key and make the lights flash but does not open any other door

Could be broken wires in any of the doors including the boot causing those symptoms, It sounds like the lock motor unit on the passenger door is faulty to me though. first step would be to check all the door gaiters for broken wires. If its still problematic after that I'd see if you can swap the front passenger side lock motor personally. The rear passenger may also be broken, or it may be the deadlocking playing up due to possible broken wires (they cause all sorts of havoc)

If you don't have a remote locking key then its relatively easy to wire in a universal kit to give remote locking - this solves some of the issues (the crappy lock barrels with the paddle that sticks out the back and breaks off) but would need the doors operating properly first.
