Loss Of Power In 2.0l Petrol

(if you read my intro, please forgive me for re-posting. I didn't know if I would reach a wider audience this way.)

 

I came on this BB and it looked quite interesting. I have a 2.0l Ghia. Lately I have noticed a definite loss of power (petrol engine) and can barely get it above 40 going up a hill. It is an automatic so the gears are shifting around and driving me mad. Don't know if this is a related problem but there seems to be some hesitation and oddly enough there are two hoses from the exhaust manifold that are popping off (just in the last 2 weeks). I don't know if that is normal due to age. It is a '96 roughly with 65k. I actually clamped one on and just on Saturday the hose tore. Any thoughts at all???
