Trying to change the rear shocks on my 2001 2.3 Galaxy, the nut and bolt on the trailing arm undo easy enough but when it comes to the top its a different story, the bolt on the inside comes out ok but the one behind the wheel arch liner won't budge at all,in the manual it says remove "the" bolt from the body and showing the one that i can't move, surely it must be two bolts as the one i took out is only long enough for the chassis on one side of the shocker, is it two bolts, or is there something else i'm missing.

i changed mine about a month ago on my 2000 lx;

the rear upper bolt on nearside was stupidly tight and needed a crowbar to get it out of the chassis.  I released the rear bumper after dropping mudflap down and pushed arch liner out of the way, the lower bolts came out easily---all bolts copperslipped when refitted.

offside ones easier as they haven't driven through roadside puddles for 16 years........

It's a while since I did my rear shockers, but if I remember correctly, the hub carrier bolt is a nut & bolt and the top bolt is into a captive nut.

If only half the bolt has come out, it may have snapped.
