Afndiesel Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 I have a mk1 tdi and just replaced the head and gasket and now my temp gauge is working and I am paranoid watching it.It sits in the middle of the normal position and creeps up to the "m" in the normal when sat in traffic. Haven't heard a fan cut in yet and doesn't rise any higher. Is this errr " normal".It's now quite nice that the pipework doesn't pressurise and I don't have to release the pressure everytime I stop Quote
tamworthleon Posted April 30, 2016 Report Posted April 30, 2016 My old 2.3 petrol could sit that high in traffic till the fan cuts in. Not quite loud enough to hear it with the bonnet shut. Just open the bonnet when you can get it that hot again and you'll hear it. As it does not creep up any higher i'ld say its got to be working ok. Quote
