2002 Galaxy 1.9 Tdi Wgr Auy

Hi all, i have just fitted a new battery to my galaxy, i removed the earth first then the positive lead, fitted the new Battery on and put leads back on in rev order. the car started first time and was ticking over for 10 mins, then it started to struggle then . no luck in starting the galaxy. i got a message on the dash "Engine workshop" and the glow plug light flashes.any help on this, thanks in advance :49:

If you've been near the battery then first thing i'd check are the fuses under the plastic flap on top of the battery and make sure none are burnt out

Was it a Calcium battery that you fitted?

i fitted a new 900 amp silver battery, and all fuses are all ok, after cranking it now shows low oil pressure and will not start.

I still need HELP on this issue what tester for the codes on the ECU is used to read them ?? and if anyone has one can you advise me on what i need to get :5:

Update i have fitted a new oil pump and cleaned out the sump and pick up pipe  and still get the error  Engine Workshop and oil pressure low any hel out here on this issue ???

You need a VAG-COM/VCDS-Lite lead for the engine and electrics. Something like this from ebay

Use the latest vcds lite from ross tech once you get your lead, just install the drivers off the disc it comes with first.

Hi all an update, i got my vag lead and now have found 5 faults IE: 17951  17849   18027   16955  19661  can anyone tell me what the coads are?? are the codes on the web as i have not found them.

 

any help on this will be good thanks in advance......

They all look like possible voltage problems. Have you checked the Engine Bay Fusebox/Battery Junction Box  and all your fuses?

Have you checked that the smaller diameter brown ground wires on the battery terminal are still connected OK (You can see two on my diesel in the fouth photo on the Battery Junction Box link)

Is the battery correct. I know from my own experience the auxiliary pump behind the battery by the bulkhead was faulty but not shorting and gave me alternator/workshop fault. After replacing the tensioner and alternator it persisted. New pump at £25 and fault gone. Those pumps I know if shorting inside cause numerous dash errors. Just unplug it to test. Plug it in if nothing changes.
