Hi Everyone, just joined and I hope someone can help!

I own a 2004 Mk2 Galaxy and the plastic surround of the drivers window switch had broken meaning I could not close the drivers window. All other switches worked correctly.

Rather foolishly perhaps, I tried a VW switch unit as a replacement, it looked identical - but on trying it out it will only move windows in the up direction regardless of which way the switch is pushed.

I put the original unit back in and now it behaves the same way!

Also the central locking switch is not functioning.

I am wondering if my experimenting has blown fuse 75.  Hoping for a bit of validation before I start dismantling the dash!

Many Thanks,

James.

Most of the fuses are behind the panel to the right of the steering wheel down below and it just pulls open so no need to dismantle the dash, does sound like a fuse as i'm sure you have 1 fuse for up and 1 for down on front and back

Do you mean whether you actuate the switch up or down all windows only move up? If so it sounds as if an electrical plug is on back to front!

OK clearly I am a numpty!

I was testing with the drivers door open.  Shut the door and it works properly.

Ah well :)

Thanks for the responses though :y
