bobafettv Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 I have a 59 plate galaxy ghia I have developed a very annoying squeak from the rear offside it comes and goes tends to be worse after a severe bump or if I have a heavy load in the back I think it would appear to be the shock absorber, it has a rubbery sound to it but has anyone else come across this. Had a price for new ones ranging from £19 to £31 although the £31 pound ones were also advertised at £80 elsewhere pays to shop about also anyone know how hard this job is looks like the worst bit will be the internal trim to get to the top mount Quote
chromedome Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 Apparently the rear suspension arm bushes on the Mk3 have a tendency to crack. May be worth looking at. I've been told it's a common problem on the new shape Mondeo and the Mk3 Galaxy uses the same set up. Quote
bobafettv Posted August 14, 2016 Author Report Posted August 14, 2016 well after an eternity of squeaking finally got to the heart of the matter as SAM said suspension arm bushes are split new one tomorrow and hopefully there will be silence (at least till the kids get in) Quote
davetech Posted August 15, 2016 Report Posted August 15, 2016 Would it be possible to upload a pic of the faulty part?I think I have a similar problem starting, but can't locate it. Quote
nickcockman Posted August 20, 2016 Report Posted August 20, 2016 I had both replaced on my previous 2008 galaxy 2.2 tdci. Think it cost me £200 cash as needed a special tool to push them out/in which local mechanic didn't have. Took me ages to find where it was squeaking from. Rubber bit towards the middle of the car on rear suspension arm. Would only squeak on a long journey but then got worse and I could squeak it by rocking car. Hope you manage to get it sorted... :) Quote
