Hi,

I am a first timer in this forum. Got a Y reg ford Galaxy 2.3 Petrol, in normal driving thermostat is holding the temp to 90 degrees, but when you get stuck in traffic for long time the radiator cooling fan does not kick in. The fan is working when connected to battery and so is control relay 419.

Am I right in suspecting it is ECU or temp sensor feeding to ECU

Error codes are

P1474 Low fan control primary circuit malfunction

P1479 High fan control primary circuit malfunction

I will appreciate if someone can guide me in locating the temp sensor and ECU.

Thanks

On the 2.0 I've got its in the upper radiator hose - its held in by a clip.

Theres a few different types - a 2 pin and a 4 pin that i know of.

I'd doubt its the ecu - The fan switch on most cars is literally that - a switch activated by temperature.

The ecu is buried above the fusebox, under the dashboard.
