Galaxy 110hp Lack Of Power

Hello,

I'm experiencing problems when runnig uphill on a highway. I know that the airco consumes a lot of power to but with the airco disabled it does not get much better.

It is also difficult to push the engine above 2500 rmp it realy holds back from that point on.

We've only had the car for six months now, and normally my wife drives it. But every now and than and when on holiday I drive de car, and I cann't stop thinking that it ran much better when we bought it.

I drive a 12 year old VW Passat 1.9 D and I begin to think that the Passat has more power than the galaxy and that's impossible because it's an old 1.9 litre diesel with no turbo.

The Galaxy is 4 years old and has run 83000 km (I think thats aprox. 52000 miles) It's 110 Hp TDI.

I like the car a lot because of the driving possition and the space (we have 4 children)

Some think the Airflow sensor is broken, others say I should replace the ECU unit (motormanagement)

Did someone experience the same problems.

Thank you for your answer

Sounds like the old MAF sensor problem.

Try a search on this topic.

Disconnect the MAF sensor and if it runs better, then the MAF sensor is kaput. Another common problem is leaking vacuum pipes that stop the turbo from developing full boost.

You also might simply have a blocked (dirty) air filter.

Very unlikely to be ECU/electronics, most likely MAF sensor or turbo wastegate problem IMHO.

I would say it`s the old MAF sensor fault again. They are so bad for failing. We should all sign a letter and send it off to VW complaining about the poor reliability of these parts. They should not be replaced as often as they need to be and VW should be looking at a modification to make them last longer......or they should be telling Bosch to improve them, or something !!

Hello everybody,

Today I replaced the MAF Sensor, and yes, the power is restored.

In fact it's even better than when I bought the car, probably the MAF was already malfunctioning.

It costs me 224,88 euro.

I hope this one lasts a few miles before breaking down again.

I also think it would be a good thing to ask VW to make these things better

Thank you all for being so helpfull
