Madfish Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Help! how do I disable the tailgate door ajar switch on my 1998 Galaxy TDI Ghia. I need to know where it is as well. After a frost, lots of electrical things went haywire but the tailgate open light now stays on even when no key in the ignition and the battery is draining down. Help!! Quote
BrianH Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 dont know for sure, but would suspect its on the door latch as i don't recall seeing it elsewhere. The likly area for the actual fault is the righthand boot gaiter - broken wires a good bet. Quote
Madfish Posted January 15, 2016 Author Report Posted January 15, 2016 Oh! Thanks, I'll check it out this morning. I know lots of my door wires are cracked and broken, just trying to keep going until I can get back to my trusted garage man! I've not been able to find any diagrams or info about where these switches/sensors are, so would still appreciate some clues if anyone else out there knows their location! Quote
BrianH Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Removing the bulb or switching it off should stop it draining the battery. Might be an idea to at least put some tape round the wires until you get them repaired properly Quote
Madfish Posted January 15, 2016 Author Report Posted January 15, 2016 Hi Brian H, It's the dashboard light that stays on, that's why I am trying to locate the sensor itself so I can stop it. I've looked at the wires in the right hand pillar boot and they seem ok, can't see any broken ones...... Quote
BrianH Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Ah ok. Try removing the connector to the door lock on the boot. Quote
Kevinb Posted March 30, 2016 Report Posted March 30, 2016 Madfish, How did you go with this? We've had a similar issue over the last few months and this morning my other half discovered the battery had died.... Sure enough the interior lights had been on all night due to the tailgate sensor not registering the door was closed (which it was) and the dashboard LED was on. Cheers! Quote
