'Sorry I meant 115tdi..!' Does anyone know when the cam belt is supposed to be changed on the 115 tdi 2001 model Galaxy?? Tried the 'search' but can't find any details on this model. If so where is cheapest to do it ?? Thanks...

Thanks, mines done 48k, how do I know if the cam belt change has been done prior to me buying the car ?? Is there any way of telling other than the service book, as it is not documented in it.

In the service book you should find a page after the normal servicing pages for "extra" work. If the first "square" for cambelt change is not stamped, try phoning the garage whose name appears for the most recent service. If they cannot confirm that the belt was changed get it done soon - it may be a bit pricey, but not as expensive as what happens if the belt snaps - and the TDI PD engine places a lot of stress on the belt. Don't tempt fate.

It's very strange that the Skoda diesels which use the same engine have the belt change quoted as 100,000 miles. Does anyone know if they use a different belt? If so, why can't we use it?

100,000 miles for a belt change - are you sure? What is the time-limit interval that goes with this?

Some Skoda petrol engines are 100000/10 Years

Mondoes with black belt covers are too - just changed mine for the first time at 98000 (which is 4 years and a bit).
