kiko1234974 Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 Hi, I have bought Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDi ( i think its 115bhp) . My question is, does this car have computer in it? On dashboard there are lights showing on top half when i start car, but bottom half is black. Also how do i know if car is MK1, 2 or 3 ? Quote
chromedome Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 MK2 then. Yes, there is a diagnostic socket low down on the right hand side of the dash near the fuse box (from memory). You can buy a lead off e-bay and download VCDS Lite to view/reset any fault codes. Quote
SilverBeast Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 What model is it? If you have a trip computer it will have controls on the right had stalk (a rocker switch on the end and a push button on the underside). If you go to the ford etis website and enter your VIN No it will list all the fitted options. Expand the Minor Features by clicking the arrow at the right of the blue bar above "Minor Features". My 2005 Ghia lists "With Mid Line Instrument Panel". I have the trip computer which uses a dot-matrix display where you describe the black section in yours. Quote
kiko1234974 Posted November 22, 2015 Author Report Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) I only see this when i enter my VIN : http://shrani.si/f/3a/fi/5DjVTY/lll.pngEDIT: NVM i refreshed page and minor features show up ! Edited November 22, 2015 by kiko1234974 Quote
kiko1234974 Posted November 22, 2015 Author Report Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) Ok now i have found and it is same as yours. WITH Mid Line Instrument Panel. So this means my car does have the on board computer if i'm correct ? Why isn't it showing up then. Does anybody know what to check first. Thank you all for your answers. EDIT: It doesnt have any buttons on the sticks on side of steering wheel (i dont know how they're called in english, neither in my own language :) ) but site says it's with Symbol Fuel Computer. Also what does mean : With Optional Equipment Pack 1 ? Edited November 22, 2015 by kiko1234974 Quote

kiko1234974 Posted November 22, 2015 Author Report Posted November 22, 2015 I found this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELM327-USB-Adapter-OBDII-Car-Diagnostic-Scanner-Lead-Cable-Tool-Tester-OBD2-HOT-/301697574252?hash=item463e93a56c:g:x-0AAOSwBahVc1Yt Would this work also ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELM327-V2-1-HH-OBD-2-OBDII-Car-Auto-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Interface-Scanner-Tool-/121742052406?hash=item1c58644c36:g:ImsAAOSwHnFVzcdf&item=121742052406&vxp=mtr Quote
SilverBeast Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 VCDS lead here. It doesn't specifically list Galaxy or VW Sharan but does include Seat Alhambra. They were all built by VW. This looks like the same lead I use.You will be able to use it for the majority of vehicle diagnostics. Make sure you install supplied drivers and download the free version of VCDS-Lite linked from the listing. If it doesn't have the stalk buttons, does it have any on the steering wheel (apart from the horn). I may be wrong about Mid line meaning it has trip computer then, I only have experience of mine which is a Ghia. Optional Equipment Pack 1 would be a group of options used when ordering. It probably varies from year to year. Quote

ELM327 is general fro most cars, but VAG cars were different. Quote

The phone side won't help much as vcds only exists in a pc program as far as i know. On the original question (about the computer bit) it might be easier to take a photo of the dashboard and post it here so others can see what you have got. Quote
xavier Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Was going to say I don't get the minor features with my Y reg, but do with my mk3 Quote
kiko1234974 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Report Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) This is my dash http://shrani.si/f/1v/9v/27D0qAdQ/dash.jpgThere are lights coming up in top 2 rows where you see my doors open. There are a few lights also in the RPM meter and KM/H meter. Edited November 24, 2015 by kiko1234974 Quote
SilverBeast Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 That looks like it doesn't have the trip computer. The bottom half of the rectangular centre bit (with the door open indicator light) is an orange matrix display. This ebay listing looks like one that has the extra display, obviously not on at the moment. The pdf on this page shows a dash with the display on (though that may be a Sharan dash) Quote
kiko1234974 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Report Posted November 24, 2015 Also, is it normal that there is no "lights on" light on that display. Only when i put on high beams there is light on in the middle of fuel and oil temp. Quote

Only when i put on high beams there is light on in the middle of fuel and oil temp. Yes. Dash lights come on with side lights so that's your lights on warning (plus the buzzing when you open the door if you've left them on). Blue light for High Beam is normal, and you should get another one when rear fog lights are on when you pull out on the light control (2 stages if you have front fogs as well, front first with no indicator lamp) Quote

Only blue light comes up when i put on high beams. Quote
