Guest nimrod Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Your cruise control is operated by a vacuum system, the pump is in the wing cavity behind the front passenger side indicator, the most common causes of the system failure to operate are loss of vacuum due to pump failure or leaks through perished hoses, and the switches on the clutch and brake pedals these are electrical as well as vacuum switches, they dump the vacuum pressure allowing the throttle pedal servo to release the pedal and open a valve to stop the pump providing more pressure and holding the servo open! as you say you can hear a clicking noise from up under the dash when you operate the switch? so I would assume that the switch appears to be working so we can forget about that for now? also daft idea but you do know that the cruise wont operate below 22MPH and if you change gear or touch the brakes its stops working? just checking  2 Quote
