andy0231 Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 hi I have a 2003 galaxy 1.9 asz engine code which has a problem with the radiator fan staying on ,I have replaced all sensors and need to know the ecu pin diagram as it must be the ecu causing fan to stay on ,can anyone help please Quote
andy0231 Posted November 11, 2015 Author Report Posted November 11, 2015 I forgot to mention this has the 130bhp engine and only has a 2 stage fan fitted Quote
BrianH Posted November 11, 2015 Report Posted November 11, 2015 Does it have aircon? Be aware the fan will run all the time if it does and you have the aircon switched on?. The ECU as far as i know doesn't have anything to do with the fan - its done off the switch (not really a sensor its a thermal switch that directly controls it), Disconnecting the switch should stop the fan if thats whats causing it to run. Though it may be different on the diesel models. Quote
andy0231 Posted November 14, 2015 Author Report Posted November 14, 2015 yes has aircon and there is no control module like on most galaxy's which do have a control module fitted to the fan housing , the 1 I have has a sender unit on bottom hose and on radiator ,these are working properly ,the ecu is sending a signal thinking the engine is overheating so I need a diagram of the ecu pins so I can trace the fault if anyone can help Quote
BrianH Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 It might be an idea to have a look with VCDS for any fault codes if you haven't already first - leads can be picked up fairly cheaply off ebay that are suitable for this, You should also be able to monitor what the ecu is measuring if there isn't anything being logged as a fault. I don't have a diagram of the pinouts, and doubt anyone else has as you've had no other responses yet either. Quote
SilverBeast Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 What is your engine temperature guage doing? I believe there is only one engine temp sensor and it is a common point of failure (I had to replace mine on my 130). The software shows 90 over a "band" of temperature controlled by the ECU. If you have VAG-COM try logging the engine temperature while warming up from cold and look for spikes or jumps in the graph, that's how I proved mine was faulty. I assume you have set the aircon to "ECON instead of "Auto" to make sure that isn't forcing the fan on. Quote
