289garage Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 Had my air con recharged at the start of the summer, but really didn't make any difference.I have a MK2 TDDI Ghia, would anyone have any ideas what the problem might be and can suggest a fix? Thanks Bill Quote
chromedome Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 Make a pot of tea and do a search. Be prepared for a long night and a lot of reading. Quote
gregers Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 count your blessings you havnt asked about the aux heater.lol Quote
xavier Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 That's next week, looking at the weather forecast! Mine fired up the other day, bit smokey but then seemed fine. Aux heater, not air con. Have yet to sit in a mk2 where it works. Quote
bigdave982 Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Mine works!! Cost 350 quid to get it working tho☺☺ Quote
SilverBeast Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Mine both work! Air con cost £160 to fix a broken pipe and regas. Aux Heater I ended up buying a used one that had only had 6 months of service before being removed from previous vehicle, as my original seems to have a faulty controller PCB. I suggest a VCDS-Lite lead from ebay for under £10 and the free VCDS-Lite software from RossTech for starters as this should help with the diagnosis for just about all your electrical systems (apart from immobiliser I think). tezerez Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Hi Silverbeast,£160 sounds good as opposed to what I usually hear. I see you are in Otley, I'm in Bramley, LS13, where did you go? Quote
SilverBeast Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 I used a mobile specialist who came out to do it in my garage. I saved some money by doing the mechanical strip down/reassembly (to provide access) myself. Details the top posting here He found the leak, which a couple of other places hadn't been able to while he was regassing my wife's Fiesta. Measured up what was needed and came back a couple of weeks later to fix it. More details of what was done part way down this thread. Quote
tezerez Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Thanks, will keep in mind (for when my boat comes in........ And there's isn't a dock strike on) Quote
