Bob Posted August 19, 2015 Report Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) Hi, Probably bad etiquette to join a forum and post a "please help me" as the first post. So, apologies. :) However, I recently bought an R-plate 1.9 diesel Galaxy and lost a load of the rear lights the very next day. I'm no auto-electrician by any stretch but a bit of reasoning helped me to: fix brake/rear light (on body) both brake and rear light on simultaneously when lights switched on - t'was the wrong bulb - needed a 5/21w instead of a 5w in one side, and fix the reverse lights - broken wire in the driver side fifth door rubber. However, I am without rear fogs. And the lights in the clusters in the fifth door itself don't work (the ones to either side on the body are now fine). The correct bulbs are in all slots. Rather than destroy the wiring loom myself, I thought it might be best to take it to someone who knows early Galaxys. Preferably someone not too far from Peterborough(Cambs). I hope it's not against the rules to ask for a garage/independent electrician/enthusiast who would like some beer tokens who is in my area and knows the likely problems. The driver side fifth door rubber was housing a mass of soldered, taped and connector block repairs. Many thanks. Back to fixing the Megane's window regulators now.... gregers Posted August 19, 2015 Report Posted August 19, 2015 welcome to the forum bob. if you look in our faqs found in the technical section of the forum there are some very detailed instructions on carrying out repairs to the wires. if the rear hatch wiring is as bad as you have described then its probably crying out to be repaired properly.good luck in your search for help. Bob Posted August 20, 2015 Author Report Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the welcome, gregers. I have tidied the wiring up this morning. Just missing the light panel on the back door itself illuminating now - as in rears, brakes, etc. The lights in the rear body are working fine. Does anyone know what the OEM black/red cable in the rear door waterproof loom carrier feeds, or if there's a fuse governing the back door light panel (not the rear body lights)? So close, but no cigar just yet. :/ Edited August 20, 2015 by Bob Quote

The rest is just a reflector. Don't know on the wire without looking at the book, which i don't have to hand at the minute, soon as i get chance to look will do. Quote
